What my son learned from a marshmallow-maker.
I just ate 8 of the most wonderful things in my life. Guinness™ marshmallows. I know, right? Crazy delish.
Here is the thing, I was talking to Nathan, confectioner, and after 10 minutes into a conversation you can hear his passion. Passion for the craft and for excellence. For life and in marshmallows. You heard me. Marshmallows.
It got me thinking on my way back home with my 13 yr. old son, Gabe, in the car with me.
I told him, "You should learn something from that."
"What?"
"You should learn from Nathan. He is going to be successful in life. Following his passion and desire, no matter what that may be. But the first thing he did was 'start.' Surround yourself with those kind of people that 'do' and not those that 'do nothing.' Understand?"
"Yes, Dad. Don't hang out with kids that smoke pot."
...
"Right."
Not exactly what I was going for, but I will take it.
